February 27th, 2017 by

Acura is the automaker of choice for Middletown drivers who need reliability, superb design, and top-of-class safety from a vehicle. Those looking for a compact sedan have many choices to decide from, but there’s one that stands out as a great value.

We love the 2016 Acura ILX, and we think you will, too. Here’s our full comparison of this inexpensive luxury sedan:

Major safety organizations were big fans of the 2016 ILX. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named it a 2016 Top Safety Pick+ after it scored best-possible ratings in each evaluation. Further, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave it a 5-Star Overall Rating – the highest overall score possible.

Standard safety features include LED daytime running lights, multi-view rearview camera, expanded view driver’s mirror, tire pressure monitoring system, vehicle stability assist with traction control, and ACE Body Structure. You can also opt to add the AcuraWatch system of features, which includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Blind Spot Information System, and Rear Cross Traffic Monitor.

Each model of the 2016 ILX comes equipped with features to make your life a little easier – not to mention more entertaining. Standard features include dual-zone GPS-linked climate control, passive entry with push-button start, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and noise-cancellation technology. Additionally, it has standard Acura Audio System with six speakers, Pandora compatibility, USB audio interface with iPod integration, Bluetooth streaming audio and HandsFreeLink, auxiliary input, speed-sensitive volume, SMS text-messaging, and multi-information display.

Premium features include Sirius XM radio, HD radio, Aha compatibility, Song By Voice, email reading, AcuraLink Navigation App, 8-inch LED information display, voice recognition, Real-Time Traffic with Rerouting, and HomeLink.

Once inside the 2016 ILX, you may never want to leave. It has standard Sport Seats with leatherette trim, humidity control, air filtration, leather accents, cruise control, ambient cabin lighting, and a 12-volt power outlet. The five-passenger vehicle is spacious, with 89.3 cubic feet of passenger space, plus a noise cancellation system that keeps the cabin quiet even on the highway. Additionally, it has more than 12 cubes of cargo space.

The 2016 ILX is powered by a 2.4-liter inline-4 engine that makes 201 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. The engine is connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and a dual-clutch setup, so it has a smooth transition between gears and has the sporty feel of a manual transmission.

The Acura sedan gets an EPA-estimated 25 MPG city and 35 MPG highway*, putting it near the top of its class in terms of fuel economy.
