Review: 2018 Acura ILX

Performance and Fuel Economy

The 2018 ILX comes equipped with a 2.4-liter inline-4 engine mated to a smooth-shifting 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with Sequential SportShift paddle shifters, making 201 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. The ILX is front-wheel drive only, and includes 17-inch noise-reducing alloy wheels.

Comfort and Convenience

The ILX comes in six trims: standard, Special Edition, AcuraWatch Plus, Premium, Technology Plus, and A-SPEC. The Special Edition trim is new for 2018, and adds a rear spoiler and side sills to the base trim. Lower trims come standard with sport seats, leatherette trim, 8-way power driver’s seat, two-level seat heating, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and Smart Entry with Pushbutton Ignition.

Upper trims have either perforated Milano leather or perforated Lux Suede seating surfaces, as well as memory for seating and mirrors, GPS-linked solar-sensing climate control, aluminum pedals, and a black headliner.

Standard entertainment and connectivity features include the Acura Audio System with 6 speakers, USB audio interface, Bluetooth streaming audio and HandsFreeLink, Pandora compatibility, Siri Eyes Free, and SMS text message reading. The 2018 ILX is also available with an ELS Studio Premium Audio System, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, HD Radio, Aha compatibility, email reading, iPhone AcuraLink Navigation App, Voice Recognition System, Acura Navigation System, AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic with Rerouting, and HomeLink universal transceiver.

Safety Technology

New for 2018, Acura made its advanced system of driver assistance technology available on all models of the ILX. The AcuraWatch Plus Package includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, and Road Departure Mitigation. Additionally, the ILX comes standard with a Multi-View Rear Camera, LED daytime running lights, and an Expanded View Driver’s Mirror, and available with a Blind Spot Information System and Rear Cross-Traffic Monitor.

All models also feature Vehicle Stability Assist, Next-Generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering Body Structure, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Distribution, and a Security System.
