Sneak Peek: 2018 Acura RLX

Middletown drivers who want to take on the new year in new wheels should get ready for the 2018 Acura RLX. Our flagship sedan has updated styling and debuts Traffic Jam Assist, a novel addition to the AcuraWatch suite of driver assistance technology. Plus, it has a couple more surprises for you.

Safety and Technology

AcuraWatch has always been hard to beat, and this year the competition got even stiffer. Every model of the 2018 RLX will feature Collision Mitigation Braking with Head-Up Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, a Lane Keeping Assist System, and Traffic Jam Assist.

This latest feature helps you stay centered in your lane and go with the flow of traffic during rush hour – particularly helpful when you venture into New York City. Other standard features include a multi-view rear camera with dynamic gridlines and a Blind Spot Information System. The new RLX is also available with a Surround-View Camera System.

Comfort and Convenience

All models of the new RLX will feature an updated grille and newly designed Sport Seats with perforated Milano premium leather trim and 12-way power adjustment with lumbar support. Standard convenience features include heated seats, heated exterior mirrors, GPS-linked three-zone automatic climate control, Smart Entry with push-button ignition, personalized settings, auto-dimming rearview mirror, ambient cabin lighting, and a power moonroof. Available features include ventilated front seats, heated outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, rear foot well lighting, power sunshades, remote engine start, and a Head-Up Display.

For your entertainment, all models of the new RLX have an ELS Audio System with 12 speakers, USB audio interface with smartphone integration, HD Radio, Sirius XM Radio, and Bluetooth tech. Navigation features include 3D view, AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic, Traffic Rerouting, color display with turn-by-turn guidance, and a HomeLink universal transceiver. Additionally, you have the option to add the premium Krell Audio System with 14 speakers.

Performance and Fuel Economy

The 2018 RLX is available as a gasoline or hybrid model. The gas model features a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a brand new 10-speed automatic transmission, making 310 horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque. According to EPA estimates, this model has a fuel economy of 20 MPG city and 29 MPG highway*.

The RLX Sport Hybrid has the same V6 combined with Acura’s unique three-motor hybrid system, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The hybrid powertrain makes a net 377 horsepower and 341 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, it gets an EPA-estimated 28 MPG city and 29 MPG highway*.
